Gisela Mabel She is a Portuguese-Angolan pianist, composer, and producer, born in the Algarve and based in Lisbon. Her music blends influences from classical, jazz, and contemporary music with African and Brazilian rhythms, creating a rich and vibrant sound that combines emotional depth with intense rhythmic vitality. 

Mabel became the first Portuguese artist to be included in the official compilation of Plan Day with an exclusive composition entitled TRANSLUCENT

His debut EP, Álbum de Retratos, was awarded Best Jazz Album of the Year by SoloPiano.

More recently, Gisela had the pleasure of working in London as part of the “Earthworks” project by artist Mónica de Miranda, presented at 1-54, the first and only international fair dedicated to contemporary African art and its diaspora, held at the iconic Somerset House.

After its debut in 2024, this year it returns to Ageas Cool Jazz to take the main stage on July 22nd.

For many young people, higher education remains the natural, almost obligatory, path to securing a better future. Despite this, not all who choose this path find a reality that meets their expectations. In this project, we seek to understand, through in-depth reporting and video testimonies, what is really at stake in higher education in Portugal. What is driving young people away? What makes them stay or leave? And, above all, what kind of country are we building when studying becomes a privilege or a risk?
