The first itinerant festival in the interior of Portugal

The Discover Your Interior festival visited 31 territories in the interior of the country between March 24st and April 7th. Throughout this journey we experienced unique cultural experiences that were closely linked to the identity of each territory.

The tour started in the South, in Beja, and continued north, to Mêda, with a program that lasted two days in each location. There were conversations to reflect on the interior, concerts in unique spaces, dinners that celebrated gastronomy, walks that revealed closed spaces and even workshops dedicated to local crafts.

Live in the territories and online

The festival was held in person in the territories but some initiatives were also broadcast online, here.

All live initiatives took place in unique, sustainable spaces, strongly linked to local communities and not usually used as artistic stages. From concerts in chapels or community washhouses, to conversations in abandoned hospitals or rattle factories, to interventions in seminary refectory or classical libraries.

Unrepeatable concerts to see in surprising spaces with local and national artists.

Get your hands dirty and learn to create with local artisans, from traditional to the most modern crafts.

Meetings with personalities we admire to reflect on the challenges facing the interior of the country and its territories.

The role of young people in the interior, river economy, immigration, climate change, tourism, depopulation or the importance of gastronomy will be some of the topics discussed, always with three guests and moderated by a journalist from Gerador.

Visit the unforgettable spaces of each territory and discover places that are not usually open to the public.

What would a trip be without a tour that surprises us? Throughout the festival, you will get to know the territories from the perspective of an insider. And we promise that we will open doors that are normally closed to the public.

Dinners that praise local cuisine with a storyteller for dessert.

The interior of Portugal is rich in gastronomic delights, as varied as its landscapes. While açorda is the star of the show in Alentejo, in Douro it is roast kid with rice and potatoes that takes center stage. At the restaurant's dinners, you will sample the gastronomic delights of each location and also hear stories told by those in the know.

This event will have an additional cost to the tickets.
