Decluttering your writing: practical workshop

The course was designed to bring other perspectives to the act of writing. The aim is to encourage writing practice through thematic modules, exercises and challenges, both inside and outside the classroom. Each participant will have the opportunity to practice techniques, build their voice and stimulate creativity through a comprehensive and transformative experience. This is a course designed for anyone who enjoys writing, with or without experience, but also for communication professionals or those who work with text and creativity on a daily basis, such as copywriters, journalists, storytellers, content creators, consultants, etc.
At the end of the course, the best stories will be published on the Gerador website.

What are the objectives of this course?

• Improve techniques for writing a good text;

• Undo preconceived ideas about the act of writing, exploring new perspectives and paths;

What is the class schedule?

 

Class 1 | Dismembering and remembering texts. The skeleton.

Course presentation. Analysis of texts previously written by students, through a challenge sent days before the first class. The skeleton of the text. Unlocking.

Class 2 | The five senses of the text.

The description. Make the text sensory, with touch, taste, sight, smell and hearing.

Class 3 | Souls and people

The characters. Creation of people, personalities and aspirations. Life and movement.

Class 4 | Voice. Voices.

The voice of the text and the voices of the characters. Monologues and dialogues. Narrative techniques and resources.

Lesson 5 | Micro explosions

The power of condensation. Nuclear texts. Journey through nano-micro-short stories.

Lesson 6 | Uncluttering and arranging stories

Presentation of final stories and informal conversation about them. Group debate and critique of each text.

 

The trainer

Samuel F. Pimenta is a poet, writer and artist. He was born on 26 February 1990, in Alcanhões, Santarém. He began writing at the age of 10 and graduated in Communication Sciences from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. To date, he has published nine books, in addition to being featured in collections, anthologies and other collective works, in Portugal and abroad, both in narrative and poetry. He has worked in the communications field since 2011, with a career that includes everything from agencies to corporate communications departments. He has also worked with publishers, in communications and as an editor, and with literary agencies, where he evaluated manuscripts. He treats writing, books, stories, literature and communication as you.

The course will take place on Friday from 19pm to 21:30pm:

Where do the classes take place?

Classes are held via videoconference, last 2h30, and are recorded for consultation upon request by the student and available until the end of the course. Sharing experience between the Professor and the students is the main focus of Academia Gerador, thus valuing participatory learning adapted to each case.
