There are books that are part of our lives. They accompany important moments, leaving a mark on our journeys. This photographic exhibition celebrates the personal stories that connect us to books. Bringing together 34 portraits of inhabitants of Alcanena captured by photographer Bárbara Monteiro, the project stems from an open invitation to the community.

Curated by Raquel Marinho ("O Poema Ensina a Cair"), this installation gives prominence to the small echoes of literature: phrases and verses that, although discreet, reveal a subtle, often unnoticed beauty. There's a double invitations for visitors: to take one of these echoes with them as a memento of FALA, and in return, to leave a piece to be taken by a stranger.

What words resonate from your experience at FALA? What echoes do you want to remain? This installation invites collective creation. Throughout the festival, three large books with blank pages will be scattered around the venue, ready to receive words and contributions from passersby. The result will be exhibited at the Alcanena Municipal Library.

Authors Núria Duarte and Maria Clara Baptista, along with illustrator AnnaC, present the book "The Little Fox of Alcanena and her Family – Playing in the Alviela River," a tender story that follows the discoveries and adventures of the little fox along the Alviela River. Through play, family moments, and unexpected encounters, the narrative invites young readers to reflect on friendship, empathy, courage, and the importance of growing up in harmony with nature.

Over the past few months, Materiais Diversos has been running the Clube das Flores (Flower Club), an initiative led by choreographer and floral designer Filipe Pereira that combines artistic practices with a community-created floral arrangement. In this session, the group will present the arrangement produced specifically for FALA.

The timeless work of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry gains a new dimension through Minderico. In an exercise of valuing the linguistic heritage of the region, Maria Alzira Roque Gameiro, director of the Roque Gameiro Watercolor Museum, presents "O Terraizinho Penostra," proposing a renewed reading of the classic and exploring its meanings from a local and unique perspective.

The book “Letters from Afar” originates from chronicles published in the newspaper “O Riomaiorense” between 1914 and 1920, now edited and contextualized by Luís Duarte Melo. In this session, the author and researcher invites us to discover this valuable documentary and literary record, highlighting its contribution to the preservation of collective memory.

With the artist present, the exhibition opening will be a moment of encounter and sharing with the public, allowing them to get to know the author's creative process up close and how his painting gives a face to Portuguese poetry.

Is it possible to read a record? We believe so. In this reading club, the protagonists are not books, but records and the words that give them form. Musician Noiserv unveils some of his songs, revealing the secrets and stories hidden between the lines.

A key figure in contemporary Portuguese literature, João Tordo has been building a solid and widely acclaimed body of work. In this intimate meeting, we spoke openly with the author, exploring his career, his influences, and his perspective on literature and the world.

In an informal setting, led by Filipa Melo, author of This Is My Body, tools will be shared to unlock the creative process. Through practical exercises and drawing on the history of literature, the workshop will address the fear of the blank page and explore new possibilities.

Augusto Pereira, vice-president of the Association of Retirees, Pensioners and Senior Citizens of the municipality of Alcanena (ARPICA) and a true Alcanena native, enlivens the lunch period, recounting memories and curious episodes that make Alcanena a unique place. In this informal meeting, journalist Miguel Carvalho, author of the book "Inside Chega," shares some milestones from his journey with the audience.
