“The Required Book” is a new series of conversations dedicated to the books included in school curricula, the choices that define them, and the role they can play in shaping readers. Until the end of 2026, each guest will also suggest a book or author they consider essential.
The guest for the third session is the author and columnist, Luís Osório. The meeting will take place at the Fernando Piteira Santos Municipal Library on July 16th, at 18:30 PM, in the Rogério Rodrigues Auditorium, inside the Fernando Piteira Santos Municipal Library, in Amadora. Admission is free.
Luís Osório (1971) has eleven published books, the most recent of which The Last Lesson of Manuel Sobrinho Simões (Counterpoint, 2024). He is a daily columnist in Antena 1where he signs the Postcard of the DayHe writes daily on social media, where he has many thousands of followers. He was the director of newspapers and a radio station. He has won awards as a creative and television program writer. He is a political and business consultant. (Based on the book) Secret Files – Untold Stories of Portuguese Politics and Society, which he transposed to the stage with a highly successful monologue, toured the country and sold out iconic venues such as the Tivoli Theater in Lisbon and the Casa da Música in Porto. He is the father of André, Miguel, Afonso, and Benedita.
This initiative is part of the July program at the Fernando Piteira Santos Municipal Library in Amadora, programmed and produced by Gerador.
