Joana Barrios divides her time between theater, television, the internet, and kitchens.
She is an actress who graduated from ESTC, completed a postgraduate degree in Film Criticism and Pop Music and spent a season with choreographer Anna Sánchez, in Barcelona.
He started working with his favorite company, Teatro Praga, in 2008.
She was the friendliest nightclub attendant ever, at Lux/Frágil.
She writes. A lot. She is the co-author and presenter of ARMÁRIO, the documentary series about Fashion broadcast on RTP2, produced by Maria João Mayer and winner of the award for Best Entertainment Program from the Portuguese Society of Authors in 2020.
He collaborated with Canal Q on programs such as Super Swing or Princesas e Doentes, always alongside André and Teodósio.
In parallel to her career as an author and actress, in 2017 she published NHOM NHOM, a cookbook for children, because growing up in a restaurant kitchen leaves great scars for life, and in 2019 she took over the kitchen of the most airy house in the country, Cristina [Ferreira's], enchanting a culinary path unexpected in the mainstream.
In 2021, it had its kitchen spin-off with À LA BARRIOS, a culinary entertainment series on the specialty channel, 24 Kitchen, available for streaming in several languages on the Disney+ platform. It is worth mentioning that À LA BARRIOS is already in its fifth season and in 2023 it was awarded by the International Academy of Gastronomy in the Entertainment/Multimedia category.
In 2023, REFEITÓRIO opened on Antena 1, a weekly interview program dedicated to gastronomy and its participants.
He currently serves as Deputy Artistic Director of the Teatro Nacional D Maria II, with a special focus on the Odisseia Nacional project. In addition to his professional activity, he also teaches at ESAD das Caldas da Rainha, on the Cultural Programming and Production course, and is the artistic director of the Aldear project, covering the 11 municipalities of the Tâmega e Sousa region. In 2022, he created the company Riscado, dedicated to consulting, programming and creating projects for territorial cohesion and cultural participation. Between 2016 and 2022, he was the founder and director of 23 Milhas, a cultural project that brings together the four spaces in the municipality of Ílhavo, and between 2019 and 2020, he was the artistic consultant for the Braga'27 candidacy.
He was the founder and director of the BONS SONS festival between 2006 and 2019, and commissioner of Caminhos do Médio Tejo, a networked cultural programme integrating 13 municipalities, between 2016 and 2018. With a degree in Industrial Design from ESAD.CR, he was the production and development coordinator at experimentadesign between 2013 and 2015, where he had worked as a producer and designer since 2009. Previously, between 2006 and 2009, he worked at the Centre for Studies of New Artistic Trends (CENTA) as a cultural producer, was an association leader at the cultural association SCOCS between 1998 and 2016, and was a co-founder of the collective ‐mente. He is a regular columnist for the magazine Gerador.
