baltar
3-5.09
The Indie Music Fest returns to Baltar between September 3rd and 5th, and for the first time in its history, the festival includes international artists in its lineup. Highlights include London's Sports Team, Belgians Lander & Adriaan, Lézard (performing in Portugal for the first time), and the Portuguese-British duo Soma Please.
The organization continues to invest in national talent, this year with the return of PAUS, on one of the dates of the band's farewell tour, and also names like Expresso Transatlântico, X-Tinto, Them Flying Monkeys, Vaiapraia, Femme Falafel and Capital da Bulgária, who celebrate the primary mission of the Indie Music Fest to give voice to independent Portuguese music.
In addition to the musical program, the festival focuses on a broader experience, with free skateboarding and BMX lessons, a new stage dedicated to emerging projects, and the return of the Indie Market.
The first day of the festival is free to enter.
Sintra
4-20.09
Teatromosca announces the program for MUSCARIUM#12, taking place between September 4th and 20th, which will be the final edition of the Sintra performing arts festival.
This year's edition of the festival once again places a strong emphasis on artistic residencies, creative workshops, and collaborative processes. A highlight is the "Atopémonos Bailando" residency program, developed in partnership with the Galician company Colectivo Glovo, deepening the cultural ties between Portugal and Galicia.
Queen D. Amélia Square, in front of the National Palace of Sintra, will host performances by Lama Teatro, the Galician company Colectivo Glovo, and the Catalan artist Joan Català on September 20th, in a celebration open to the entire town and the entire municipality.
The event concludes in a festive manner with a DJ set curated by the Unidigrazz collective and the communal sharing of a "mega-cachupa".
However, the end of this festival model does not represent a disappearance, but rather a metamorphosis. In September 2027, teatromosca will return with a new format entirely dedicated to Contemporary Dramaturgy for Young Audiences.

Cardosas, Arruda dos Vinhos
5.9
The "Like a Sunday" feature returns to Cardosa in Arruda dos Vinhos. After Lena d'Água in July and Mia Meneses in August, September brings Dulce Maria Cardoso to this space owned by Mãe Jerico.
With a model already tested in previous editions, the artist is challenged to do whatever they feel like. A text, a poem, a street name serves as a starting point for the live performance. The artist chooses a language from theatre to dance, passing through words and music, and the magic of improvisation happens. A unique act, in which the audience is also a character. The results are creative and unexpected.

It's "Like a Sunday" but on a Saturday.
Guimarães
5.09 - 29.11
Between September 5th and November 29th, Guimarães will once again transform into a territory dedicated to contemporary textile art with the 8th edition of CONTEXTILE – Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art. Under the theme By a Thread, this year's edition starts from the social, environmental, political and economic fragilities of the present to consider the role of art in building more sustainable, resilient and inclusive futures.
Over the course of 85 days, the program is spread across various spaces in the city, with exhibitions, artistic residencies, interventions in public spaces, performances, workshops, and the Textile Talks, dedicated to the relationship between art and sustainability.
Among the highlights is the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, a guest of this edition, who will present new works in different spaces in Guimarães. The program also includes "A Change in the Weather? Material Storytelling in an Age of Uncertainty," an exhibition curated by Janis Jefferies, which brings together artists from different countries around themes such as climate change, sustainability, and contemporary social challenges.
The Weaving the Green project combines textile art, industry, traditions, and raw materials from the region through artistic residencies and interventions in public spaces. The Biennial thus maintains its connection to the territory that hosts it, seeking to bring contemporary creation closer to the communities and textile history of the Ave Valley.
